A cool book, and it's on sale.

I think this book was a lot of fun. I even wrote a review on it at Amazon. I love Amazon. I rely on those reviews so much, figured it was about time I contributed.

The book is The Embellishment Handbook by Sherry Stevenson. She also wrote When Life Gives You Lemons (which is now a class that started yesterday at Get It Scrapped - not too late to join!). I just wanted to share the book is fun and have lots of ideas on different ways to use up those embellishments.

I really liked how it was it was laid out too, it was easy to just flip it open to a page and use it as a challenge of sorts to use that embellishment in that way. Great tool for scrap-block for sure!

September Kits Posted

Hi everyone!
I hope your September is going well. I've always been a big fan of September. I love back to school shopping. Perhaps it's because I'm a gadget junkie I like seeing all the new supplies or re-hashed old supplies. One of my favorites from my school days were those old pencils that had the white plastic pieces that held the lead and you had to feed it into the back of the pencil to push the next lead down. My mom was the coolest she always got me the scented ones.

This months kit I think is fantastic for back to school. It's featuring Rough & Tough by Fancy Pants. The line is marketed as a boy line which in itself appealed to me given I have more boys than I can name half the time. (Seriously, it's a good day when one doesn't get called by another's name) However, I think this line is a great line for any gender. The colors especially lend themselves to school themes. I have a few layouts I did and will share the rest I do with the kit in the following days. The focus of this kit for me and for the Page Starters is going to be back to school layouts and a few tips on how to "man up" your pages.

The first layout I did (above) is Zach. It's his nursery school picture but I just think his "not impressed" face sums up the past year and my thoughts on the Terrible Threes.

This next layout is Keagan letting me know he didn't want to do what I asked. I was inspired to use the stripes from a post that Debbie Hodge did on using Stripes & Dots on layouts.

And finally here is a two page spread I did for Austin's eighth grade year. On a personal note I can't believe how thick his neck got, he's not quite the scrawny twig he once was, he's looking more man than boy these days...

The kits are now available in the store.
